SONG: A suspected illegal lottery seller was caught red-handed after police swooped in during an anti-gambling operation on Saturday (July 11).
The arrest was made by officers from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) during ‘Ops Dadu’ at an open area along Jalan Penghulu Serai.
Police detained the male suspect for inspection following suspicions of illegal lottery number sales activity.
They seized a piece of paper bearing a series of numbers believed to be linked to an unlicensed public lottery, along with cash suspected to be proceeds from the illegal activity.
Song police chief Benedict Faris Jimoy said the suspect was taken to the police station for further action under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
He assured that police remain committed to stamping out illegal gambling activities to safeguard public order and maintain peace within the community.
Members of the public are urged to continue assisting police by reporting any suspected gambling activities in their respective areas.
