BINTULU: A man had a lucky escape with only minor injuries after a compact sedan he was travelling in was involved in an accident at the Samalaju roundabout late last night (May 11).

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said two individuals were inside the vehicle when the incident occurred.

“Both occupants managed to exit the vehicle unaided. One suffered an open wound to the leg, while the other was unharmed,” it said in a statement.

No extrication was necessary, but firefighters ensured the scene was safe by switching off the vehicle’s engine to prevent further danger.

The injured individual was later taken to Nyalau Clinic by a member of the public for further treatment.

Earlier, the Samalaju fire station received an emergency call at 10 pm and swiftly deployed five personnel to the scene.
