MUKAH: A man from Kuching died on the spot after he was thrown from his vehicle in a crash along KM7, Jalan Oya-Dalat early this morning.
The victim, identified as Chung Marn Cherk, was driving a Toyota Rush when the vehicle skidded and rammed into a culvert by the roadside near Kampung Tanam at around 3.35 am.
The impact caused him to be ejected from the car. Paramedics later confirmed he had died at the scene and his body was handed over to the police for transport to Mukah Hospital.
Firefighters from Mukah station were dispatched to the scene, about 33km away, following an emergency call.
On arrival, they disconnected the car battery and sprayed water on the dashboard after smoke was seen coming from the vehicle.
The operation ended once the situation was confirmed safe.
