KUCHING: A 58-year-old man lost his life in a tragic house collapse at Lorong 17, Jalan Stampin Baru, early this morning (Jan 4).

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an alert about the incident at 2.50 am, and a team from the Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched, arriving at the scene within eight minutes.

Upon arrival, the team found that the single-storey house had completely collapsed.

Based on information from witnesses, it was confirmed that a victim was trapped under the rubble. 

Rescue operations began immediately, and at 4.05 am, the victim, identified as Lim Inn Tong, was located unconscious beneath the debris.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics on location. 

The operation concluded at 4.29 am with the victim’s remains handed over to the police for further investigation. 

No further injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the cause of the house collapse.
