BAU: A 26-year-old local man from Kampung Opar was arrested during a drug operation along Jalan Raya Bau Lama here.
The arrest took place around 12.30 pm yesterday during the Ops Tapis operation carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD Bau).
District police chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer said the suspect was found behaving suspiciously in a white Proton Saga parked by the roadside.
“A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a black handbag containing 14 transparent plastic packets filled with white crystalline substances, believed to be dangerous drugs.

“A total of 13.39 grams of drugs were seized, with an estimated street value of RM1,300,” he said in a statement.
He added that initial urine screening showed the suspect tested positive for drugs.
“The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and a remand application will be submitted to facilitate further investigation,” he said.
He also said narcotics police will continue to carry out operations in areas suspected to be involved in drug-related activities.
