KUCHING: Police have arrested a 41-year-old local man in Tabuan Tengah here in connection with a domestic violence case reported on Apr 3.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the arrest, which was madethe following day at around noon time.
He said the suspect is believed to be involved in a case of voluntarily causing hurt involving his partner.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, which carries a jail term of up to one year, a fine, or both.
It is also being read together with Section 326A of the Penal Code, which provides for double the maximum punishment if the offence involves a spouse.
Alexson advised the public to remain patient and not resort to violence, and to report any criminal activities to the Kuching district police control centre at 082-241133.
