KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court here ordered a local man to maintain a six-month peace bond for uttering threatening words against his employer during an incident four years ago.
David Thomas, 39, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Mason Jaro Lenya Barayan to the charge under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
According to the case facts, the incident occurred on Oct 19, 2020 at around 3.30 pm at a timber mill.
The complainant, who is the employer, said that David approached him in an angry and intoxicated state. David was dissatisfied with a message sent by the complainant in their work WhatsApp group, which resulted in an argument.
During the altercation, David pushed the complainant and attempted to retrieve a sharp object from a car. However, his actions were thwarted by the complainant’s father and brother, who intervened.
Following the incident, the complainant filed a police report as he feared that his safety was threatened. The case has been investigated and referred to the Sarawak Attorney General’s Chambers.
The court imposed the six-month peace bond as a warning to David to avoid repeating such offences in the future.
