SIBU: A man was arrested by a Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB) and MPV Unit during an operation at Kampung Bahgia Teku, following a tip-off from the public.

Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the suspect was found in possession of items believed to have been stolen in a recent housebreaking incident.

“Acting on public information, our patrol units managed to locate and detain the suspect during a routine check. Several items believed to be stolen were also seized,” he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking.

Zulkipli added that the suspect and the seized items were taken to Sungai Merah police station for further action.

He also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation in assisting the police.

“The success of this arrest reflects the importance of community involvement in crime prevention,” he added.
