SIBURAN: A local man, reported to have gone missing in a forest at Kampung Punau, Jalan Puncak Borneo on Saturday, returned home safely yesterday.

According to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, Siburan fire and rescue station (BBP) had earlier on received a distress call about the missing man from Padawan police around 5.30pm on Sunday.

Following the call, firefighters from the Siburan BBP were despatched to the scene to launch a search and rescue (SAR) operation for the missing 43-year-old man.

However, on the second day (Monday) of the SAR operation, the firefighters found out that the man had returned home safely around 5am.

So the operation that involved 32 firefighters, policemen, and People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel was halted.
