BAU: A man was safely rescued from Mount Singai here after experiencing breathing difficulties along the hiking trail on Monday (Dec 15).

The 57-year-old victim was reported to be suffering from shortness of breath at Stage 12 near the Catholic Memorial Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC).

Although he was conscious and unharmed, his condition prompted an emergency response from Bau firefighters.

Working together with the Civil Defence Force (APM), the team mounted a foot rescue to reach the victim and stabilised his condition.

He was then escorted down the mountain and handed over to paramedics for further assessment.

The rescue operation ended at 12.30pm.
