MIRI: A man who went missing after losing his way in the woods managed to safely return to his family after spending a night under a bridge.

The individual, whose identity has not yet been released, was reported missing since Monday.

According to initial reports, the man became disoriented while attempting to navigate his way out of the dense forest.

He had ventured into the area with two friends, relying on memory to find familiar paths.

However, as night fell and heavy rains poured, he struggled to identify a clear route to safety.

The man eventually reached the Temala Bridge late last night, where he chose to take shelter due to the poor weather and fading daylight.

He spent the night under the bridge, waiting for an opportunity to continue his search for a way out once the conditions improved.

At first light, he set off again and was able to locate a passing vehicle, which transported him to a relative’s house in Long Lama.

The man safely arrived at the residence at around 6.40 am.

Shortly after, at approximately 7 am, he made a call to inform local police about his situation.

Authorities quickly responded to the report, arriving at the scene and escorting the man to the nearest clinic for a medical check-up.

Fortunately, a full-scale search and rescue (SAR) operation had not yet been initiated at the time of his return, as the man had managed to make his way back before such measures were deemed necessary.

Police have confirmed that the man is now in stable condition and is recovering from the ordeal.
