SIBU: A local man was seriously injured after an attempt to overtake a lorry ended in a crash along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce here today (June 29).
The 48-year-old suffered severe head injuries and fractures to both legs in the 7.18 am accident and was rushed to Sibu Hospital for immediate treatment.
Preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding towards Farley supermarket when he attempted to overtake the lorry. He is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle before skidding and crashing into the rear of the lorry.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver escaped unharmed in the accident.
Police are probing the case under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, with investigations ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
