BINTULU: A trailer driver sustained severe injuries after his vehicle collided with another trailer along Batu 9, Jalan Pan Borneo Miri-Bintulu yesterday.
The accident happened at around 5.10 pm when the victim’s trailer laden with oil rear-ended another trailer carrying fertiliser.
The impact left the 51-year-old driver severely injured and trapped in his seat while, the other driver — a 44-year-old man — escaped unharmed.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Bintulu station were dispatched to the scene, about 17km away, following an emergency call.
Upon arrival, the team confirmed the incident and used special rescue tools to extricate the injured victim.
He was later handed over to paramedics for initial treatment before being taken to the hospital for further care.
The extent of his injuries was not known.
