Man slashed to death by brother

PADAWAN: A 49-year-old man was slashed to death, allegedly by his brother at Jalan Landeh, Mile 10 yesterday (Sept 19).

Padawan OCPD Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, who confirmed the case, said the incident happened around 7.30pm, when the victim attempted to attack his elder brother with a sickle.

However, his brother, 60, managed to snatch the weapon from the victim.

“He (suspect) later slashed the victim with the weapon during the fight.

“It is believed that the victim was under the influence of alcohol and the incident took place in front of the suspect’s house,” he said.

The victim was rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital, however, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Zainal Abidin said they received a report from the hospital at 11.10pm and had nabbed the suspect, who was lodging a report at the Kota Sentosa police station.
He said the suspect admitted to having disposed of the weapon in the bushes near his house.

The suspect has been remanded while the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
