Man survives 5m ravine plunge with minor injuries

LUNDU: A local man escaped with his life after the vehicle he was driving plunged into a ravine along Jalan Sampadi late last night (Aug 3), suffering only minor injuries.

The accident occurred at around 11.05pm, leaving the 36-year-old trapped inside the wrecked vehicle at the bottom of the five-metre-deep ravine.

Firefighters from Lundu station were dispatched to the scene, about 17km away, following an emergency call.

Upon arrival, they extricated the victim from the vehicle before bringing him to safety.

Fortunately, the man sustained only minor injuries and was given initial treatment at the scene.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 11.41pm.
