MIRI: Police on Tuesday afternoon arrested a 32 year-old man after he allegedly assaulted and threatened his girlfriend with a knife.
The alleged incident reportedly happened at the victim’s house in Jee Foh Road here around 10am on the same day.
Prior to the incident, the couple were involved in an altercation over money issues.
In the middle of the quarrel, the suspect had taken a kitchen knife and put it on the victim’s throat, threatening her.
According to sources, the suspect had turned furious after the victim delayed in giving him cash.
Following the incident, the victim sustained some bruises on her body.
Acting on a police report lodged by the victim later after the incident, a team of Miri criminal investigation department personnel arrested the suspect around 12pm that same day (Sept 4).
He is currently being detained under police custody for questioning.
The offence is being framed under Section 323/506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation.
