MIRI: Police here arrested a man believed to be a road bully after he allegedly pointed an imitation pistol at a road user at Permyjaya traffic light on Thursday.
The 43-year-old suspect was arrested by the district’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) for possessing an imitation firearm.
Miri deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol said an investigation paper was also opened under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
The suspect was picked up by the police around 11.30 pm at his residence ar Jalan Hillstone.
Also seized were the imitation pistol and 45 bullets, which were found in the suspect’s car.
He added that the arrest followed a report received from a pensioner who claimed that a man had pointed a pistol at him at the traffic lights around 1.45 pm on Thursday.
Prior to the incident, the suspect was believed to have fired two shots at the vehicle driven by the complainant.
The suspect is currently placed at Miri central police lock-up for further investigation under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960, for possession of an imitation firearm without a valid licence.
The Section provides for a jail term of up to one year or a fine up to RM5,000 or both, if convicted.
