KUCHING: A 39-year-old local man was arrested by police after he was allegedly found with 6.82 grammes of suspected methamphetamine at the roadside of Kampung Bintawa Tengah here on Saturday (Apr 4).
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the suspect was detained by a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division at about 12.55pm.
He said checks on the suspect led to the seizure of the drugs, estimated to be worth RM750.
“A preliminary urine screening test found the man positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
“Further checks showed that the suspect had one previous criminal record,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The suspect has been remanded for three days from Apr 6 to 8 under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist investigations.
