KUCHING: Datuk Dr Jerip Susil’s decision to quit as Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) deputy president has surprised many including his close acquaintances.
PSB secretary-general George Lo said the unexpected move was unexpected by party members, including himself and the party president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh.
“He did not inform us beforehand. No hint at all,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Dr Jerip’s special administrative officer to his ministry, Keron Mapus, when contacted, said he doubted the authenticity of the resignation letter that was allegedly issued by his boss as he was not instructed to write one. He wasn’t aware of it, nor was he informed of Dr Jerip’s decision.
“Normally, I would be incharge of letters whether it involves official matter or something else but this letter was not of my doing.Perhaps he himself who wrote it or someone else,” he added.
Keron noted that he tried contacting Dr Jerip who is also Mambong assemblyman to ask him about the letter, but to no avail.
“I couldn’t reach him myself. His cellphone was switched off, said Keron.
On July 10, an official letter from his (Dr Jerip) constituency Mambong office, bearing his signature announced his decision to quit PSB with immediate effect.
He said the decision was made after consultating with the people and supporters in his constituency.
