KUCHING: The 2025 Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (Public Service Premier Gathering) Run received an overwhelming response, drawing over 2,500 participants.

The Director of the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN) Sarawak Regional Campus, Masitah Annuar, said the turnout exceeded their initial target, reflecting strong support from various segments of society, including civil servants.

“Today’s programme received an extremely encouraging response from all levels of the community.

“The number of participants surpassed our expectations – more than 2,500, comprising civil servants and members of the public,” she told reporters when met after the MAPPA XX 2025 Sarawak Run at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) compound today.

She then added that the run not only promoted a healthy lifestyle but also served as a bridge between the public service and the wider community.

Masitah explained that participation was not limited to government employees, but was open to the public across all age groups and backgrounds.

“In addition to the run, we also organised exhibition booths featuring government agencies such as the Road Transport Department (JPJ), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), SPay Global, health screening services and many more.

“This wasn’t just a run – participants and visitors also had the opportunity to directly access various government services on-site,” she said.

The run, which began around 6:30 am, included 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km categories, and was officially flagged off by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

The event was organised by the INTAN Sarawak Sports and Welfare Club (KEKSIS), INTAN Sarawak Regional Campus, in collaboration with the Sarawak Premier’s Department, the Office of the Federal Secretary of Sarawak, the Sarawak State Development Office, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Sarawak, the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak, the Sarawak Youth and Sports Department, and the Sarawak Government Officers’ Sports and Welfare Council (MAKSAK).

The programme aimed to foster a healthy lifestyle among civil servants and the general public while promoting awareness of the upcoming MAPPA XX, scheduled for August 15.
