SERIAN: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) remains committed to empowering Sarawak Bumiputera women entrepreneurs, with 114 of them receiving business financing amounting to RM9 million this year.
MARA Council Member, Siti Ajar Yasin, said the agency had allocated RM33 million for Sarawak entrepreneurs this year, targeting 1,156 participants through business financing, training, and entrepreneurship matching grants.
For financing schemes alone, she said MARA Sarawak aims to offer business funding facilities worth RM32.6 million to 228 Bumiputera entrepreneurs statewide.
“As of October 2025, a total of 319 Sarawak entrepreneurs has received MARA financing amounting to RM41.3 million, including 114 women entrepreneurs.
“MARA provides special financing for women entrepreneurs under the DANAnita scheme, with RM1.045 million allocated for Sarawak, benefitting 29 women as of July this year.
“MARA welcomes entrepreneurs to seek advice and learn more about the financial facilities and schemes available to support their business growth,” she said.
She said this when officiating the ‘Program Pemerkasaan Wanita MARA dan Seminar Kenegaraan Malaysia MADANI 2025’ event at the Sarawak Government Administrative Centre Hall here today.
Siti stressed that women entrepreneurs must remain resilient, courageous, and adaptable in navigating today’s competitive business landscape.
She noted that one of the most common challenges faced by entrepreneurs is access to resources, particularly capital and materials.
“Resources include financial support such as start-up capital, working capital, and funds to expand operations, as well as access to raw materials and equipment,” she added.
“MARA’s goal is not only to produce more entrepreneurs but also to build competitive ones capable of sustaining their businesses in the long run.
“MARA is also committed to helping women entrepreneurs become more digitally literate and stay ahead in the evolving business environment.”
