KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 1,156 entrepreneurs in Sarawak have directly benefited from various initiatives under the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) ecosystem.
Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang said RM33 million has been allocated in 2025 through financing, training, and a range of entrepreneurship schemes.
She added that the MARA Entrepreneur Transformation Programme reflects MARA’s commitment to strengthening the Bumiputera entrepreneurship ecosystem by offering training, mentorship, matching grants, financing schemes, and business premises facilities.
“This programme is not only a platform to enhance skills but is also aligned with the government’s aspiration to strengthen the rural economy and bring MARA closer to the people,” she said during the programme’s launch at Kampung Endap recently.
Rubiah further highlighted that available facilities include the Easy Business Financing Scheme (SpiM), DanaNITA, Professional Entrepreneur Scheme, OKU Entrepreneur Scheme, PUTEK, SEMAi, PUTRA and SpiKE, alongside business premises that have already created over 1,045 job opportunities and generated RM53.4 million in sales in Sarawak.
Across the two-day programme, around 200 participants took part in activities such as hair-cutting, pastry-making, and sewing courses conducted by GIATMARA Sarawak on the first day.
The second day featured knowledge-sharing sessions covering business registration procedures, entrepreneurship facilities under RISDA, the application of digital technology in business, and entrepreneurial motivation.
