KOTA SAMARAHAN: The highly anticipated Samarahan Marathon 2025 is set to take place on June 14 and 15, promising an exciting and thrilling event for participants and spectators alike.

Jointly organised by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) and Hock Seng Lee (HSL), this year’s marathon is expected to attract at least 3,000 runners from various categories, including international participants from Kenya, China, South Korea, Singapore, Brunei, as well as runners from Sarawak and other local regions.

Key supporters of the event, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), will provide 300 volunteers to assist in organising the marathon. They will be supported by the police, Public Works Department (PWD), medical teams, City Joggers Club, RELA, and other relevant agencies.

According to MPKS chairman Datuk Peter Minos, Sarawakians have shown a strong passion for marathons, with 2,800 runners participating last year. He noted that more people are becoming health-conscious and see marathons as a fun and engaging way to stay fit.

The Samarahan Marathon is expected to place Samarahan on the map, boosting local tourism in the long run. Additionally, MPKS will also organise the annual Samarahan Food and Cultural Festival, with a dedicated committee already set up to plan the event.

“These two major events—the Samarahan Marathon and the Samarahan Food and Cultural Festival—will establish Samarahan as a must-visit destination,” he said.
