Marine cops pick up man for transporting diesel without permit

MIRI: A 53-year-old local man was arrested with seized items worth over RM93,000 after being found transporting diesel fuel without valid documentation in an operation at Jalan Melor, Bekenu, here yesterday (Mar 20).

According to Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the arrest was made at 6.45 pm by the Marine Intelligence Unit (URM) of the Tactical Headquarters of the Marine Police Force, Region 5 Miri, during Op Taring Landai.

“A team led by an officer along with four personnel stopped and inspected a white single-cab Toyota Hilux.

“Inspection revealed that the vehicle was carrying diesel fuel, but the driver failed to present authorisation documents from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Miri,” he said in a statement today.

The vehicle was seized along with the diesel fuel, with the total value of the confiscated items estimated at RM94,500.

“All seized items, including the vehicle and diesel fuel, have been handed over to the KPDN for further investigation under the Supply Act 1961,” he added.
