PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has made it clear that investments in e-cigarettes are unwelcome, as more students fall into the habit, mistakenly viewing it as trendy.

At the launch of the National Cancer Control Plan 2025–2030, Manet said firms are not allowed to produce e-cigarettes in Cambodia and urged youth to focus on education, not vaping.

“If investors come for other types of investments, I welcome them. But for e-cigarettes, Cambodia can say no need – please go elsewhere,” he said.

The move underscores Cambodia’s broader effort to curb cancer, which claims 14,000 lives annually out of 20,000 cases, according to the Health Ministry. – BERNAMA
