SIBU: Marshmallow Group emerged as champion of the Kpop Cover dance competition in conjunction with the Blast Your Stage 2025 event held at the Sibu Indoor Stadium on Saturday night.
The group took home a cash prize of RM8,000 along with a trophy and a certificate.
The second place went to Genmai Group, with a cash prize of RM6,000, while at third place was Majority Group who took home RM4,000.
Both groups also received respective trophies and certificates.
Other groups, namely I-OLA, Valerinx, Swan D and 8dios each received consolation prizes.
For the Online Dance Challenge category, victory went to Elements Studio and Nanaaaa_1018, while Swan D was crowned winner of Best Costume.
Present at the prize presentation ceremony was Bukit Assek Assemblyman, Joseph Chieng Jin Ek.
In his speech, Chieng said the platform, which started in 2023, has now grown into the main K-pop stage in Borneo by bringing together talents throughout the country, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia and others.
“With an audience of about 2,000, this event not only celebrates the competition itself, but also celebrates youth, creativity, and the power of dance that can connect cultures,” he said.
He said this year’s competition offered a cash prize of RM21,000, the same as last year, and was the highest in Malaysia for a K-pop competition.
“To all the dancers, this is your night, your stage, your time to shine. Show off the incredible talent we have in Sibu,” he added.
