Marudi water treatment plant holds open day

MARUDI: In conjunction with Word Water Day 2017, the Marudi water treatment plant held an open day yesterday to let visitors learn on how water is being processed, treated and distributed.

Senior Assistant Director of Marudi Labour Department, Lio Siang Yun was the first visitor to visit the plant, which was opened to public from 9.00am to 6.00pm.

The plant, located at Jalan Kapitan Aba, was built in 2005 and has the capacity of processing a total of 10 million litres of water daily (MLD).

Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) enforcement officer, Razri Amit explained that the treated water would be supplied to villages in the area, Marudi town, Taman Dahyuh and RPR Sg Pasir.

He said samples of raw and treated water at the plant were taken by the Marudi Drinking Water Quality Control (KMAM) Unit and sent to the Chemistry Department in Bintulu for analysis on a weekly basis.
