RENOVATION works for the Malaysia Airlines Cargo (MASKargo) warehouse at Kuching International Airport have commenced with an estimated cost of RM2.5 million.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said the upgrading project would improve cargo-handling efficiency, storage capacity, operational workflow and overall service quality at the airport.
“The renovation works for the Malaysia Airlines Cargo warehouse at Kuching International Airport have commenced at a cost of approximately RM2.5 million,” he said during his winding-up speech at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today (May 18).
Lee said enhancing cargo infrastructure was crucial, as air cargo continues to play a major role in supporting Sarawak’s economy, particularly in the imports and exports of electronics, perishables, pharmaceuticals, e-commerce products, and other time-sensitive goods.
“The Sarawak government welcomes continuous investment into airport cargo facilities as part of our broader strategy to position Kuching as a regional aviation and logistics hub for Borneo and the wider region,” he said.
