SIBU: Distrepark Sdn Bhd, the master developer for SibuJaya, welcomes with open arms non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that are interested to host community events in the booming township of SibuJaya.
Its assistant general manager Eddy Puah said this at the start of a blood donation campaign organised by United People’s Activity Association (UPAA) and managed by the Sibu Hospital Blood Bank recently.
Earlier in August this year during the popular SibuJaya Fun 5 Carnival, UPAA in collaboration with the Blood Bank conducted a blood donation campaign as well, while a group of Lions Clubs operating within Sibu held a free health screening in November.
Puah said according to feedback from these NGOs, SibuJaya’s large population bank of 30,000 people made the township a very attractive venue for the hosting of events like SibuJaya Water Fiesta 2018.
Other than health events, the township was also host to numerous sporting events over the years, the most recent being Sibu Rural District Council’s highly successful SibuJaya Mountain Bike Challenge and the Strongman Competition in 2017.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) also hosted a Run with Bomba event in May 2015, while the Sibu 4WD Team and former students of Sacred Heart School – The 86ixers in collaboration with the master developer hosted the SibuJaya Thunder, a 4×4 Off Road Challenge in Aug of that year.
For 2019, subject to the approval from the local authorities, the SibuJaya calendar of events would feature a “SibuJaya Fun Street Dinner“in Jan, “SibuJaya Summer Break Carnival” in March, “SibuJaya Harvest Festival” in May, “Give Blood, Save Lives Campaign” in July, “SibuJaya Fun 5 Street Carnival” in late Aug, while SRDC is expected to be hosting its Mountain Bike Challenge and other fun and extreme sports event around the same time.
Puah called on other NGOs interested in hosting events at SibuJaya to approach Distrepark at its sales gallery located at No1, Lorong SibuJaya Timur 1 at the township or call 084 – 235888.
“Our multi-functional sales gallery can also be converted quickly into an event venue should the need arises. We will assist in whatever ways we can, but all relevant permits must be obtained by the organisers from the relevant authorities,” he added.
The business sector can also get on board by conducting sales or promotional campaigns at the Sapphire East Business Precinct with its sprawling piazza which is ideal for large scale events.
