The event was officiated by Tupong assemblyman Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, who is also chief political secretary to the Sarawak Premier.

Also present was Kuching South City Council (MBKS) deputy mayor Dato Zaiedi Suhaili, also Tupong PBB deputy chairman.

Participants were treated to a host of community-based activities including an aerobics session, car boot sale and Jualan Rahmah Madani, a children’s colouring contest, sepak raga ratus tournament, and a traditional melastik (slingshot) competition.

According to Taman Matang Jaya PBB Youth chief Ahmad Afiq Adzly Rosli, the event served not only as a recreational gathering but also as a platform to strengthen neighbourhood bonds and promote healthy lifestyles among residents.

“Activities like aerobics, community sales, and traditional games go beyond entertainment,”

“They reflect the community’s togetherness and provide opportunities for youth and local entrepreneurs to play their part in grassroots development.”

The Matang Jaya Community Programme 2025 concluded on a high note, with organisers expressing hope that such initiatives will continue to foster cooperation and mutual support among local residents.
