KUCHING: Clearing works along the road leading to the Matang Wildlife Centre here will be completed by Dec 31.

Road users are urged to take note of the clearing works update on the road that was covered by a landslide last Sunday (Dec 22).

In a statement issued last Friday, the Public Works Department (JKR) said so far, land clearing works were being carried out at the scene for the purpose of reopening the road to two-way traffic.

Due to the relatively serious and unstable landslides from the recent wet weather, the clearing works will take some time.

Thus, it will also affect the smooth flow of traffic on one open lane of the stretch.

Road users are advised to exercise caution when driving on this road during the maintenance period and to comply with all traffic management signage for safety.

Road users are also urged to be patient and fully cooperate until clearing works are completed as no alternative routes are available.

Last Sunday morning, a landslide caused the road to be cut off from both directions, however, the road was reopened with a one-way street at the night on the same day.

It was also reported that two overhead cable poles were affected as a result of the landslide.
