SIBU: The Malaysian Association of Tour & Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair Sarawak is a testament to Sarawak’s resilience and is very much aligned with the state’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 to provide global exposure and endless business opportunities in the exciting era of groundbreaking travel innovations and technological advancements.
Pointing out this, Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) Chairman, Clarence Ting Ing Horh, said the event was undoubtedly a high-impact platform for securing investment opportunities for industry players while showcasing the best travel deals to the general public.
“Over the years, the MATTA Fair Sarawak has consistently proven that it is contributing to the increased growth and prosperity of Malaysia and ultimately the global travel and tour industry,” he said at the launching ceremony of the two-day MATTA Fair Sibu 2025 held at Swan square, Jalan Ling Kai Cheng here today.
The fair has a total of 32 booths, featuring a diverse range of destinations – from pristine beaches to bustling cities, serene mountain getaways to vibrant cultural festivals, to cater for every kind of travellers.
He praised MATTA Sarawak Chapter Chairman, Oscar Choo, and his team for their unwavering passion and commitment to promoting Sarawak and ultimately Malaysia as an unforgettable, world-class destination for adventure and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
“Their efforts have ensured that tourism industry players are working together to strengthen the tourism industry and move towards economic recovery,” Ting added.
In an earlier speech, organising chairman, Ling How Kang, stated that MATTA Fair served as a one-stop platform for travellers to plan their dream holidays, offering exclusive travel packages from trusted and licensed tour operators.
“Our mission is to provide consumers with peace of mind, ensuring their holiday investments are in capable hands and managed by seasoned travel professionals,” he said.
MATTA Fair Sibu, he added, is set to showcase an abundance of promotional travel packages, both domestic and international, to boost the travel and tourism sector while supporting local industries.
He stressed that MATTA remains committed to playing a key role as a catalyst for growth, in line with the government’s vision to generate job opportunities, expand market reach, and increase tourist arrivals to Malaysia.
