KUCHING: Maxim Malaysia has reinforced its commitment to fostering an inclusive society by supporting Silent Run 5.0, an initiative promoting awareness, accessibility and empowerment for the deaf community.

The company contributed sponsorship funding for the event organised by the Sarawak Deaf Sports Association (SSDeaf), helping ensure its success while encouraging stronger community engagement through sports and inclusion.

“At Maxim, we believe that everyone deserves equal opportunities to participate and thrive within the community. Our support for Silent Run 5.0 is the first step towards building a meaningful relationship with the deaf community in Kuching,” said Maxim Kuching’s Head, Tan Boon Kai, in a press statement on Wednesday (July 1).

“We look forward to exploring more collaborations, sponsorship opportunities, and community programmes together in the future as we continue promoting inclusion and accessibility for all.”

Silent Run 5.0, held throughout the state recently, brought together members of both the deaf and hearing communities, creating opportunities for meaningful interaction, mutual understanding, and stronger social bonds through healthy recreational activities.

Besides promoting inclusivity, the programme also served as a fundraising platform to support deaf athletes in their training and participation in local and international sporting competitions.

“The initiative aimed to raise greater public awareness of the challenges faced by the deaf community while recognising their achievements and encouraging broader community support for inclusive development,” the statement said.

“As part of its participation, Maxim distributed exclusive promotional ride codes, enabling participants to enjoy more affordable transportation to and from the event venue throughout the programme.”

The company also handed out complimentary hand fans to participants, helping them stay comfortable during the run while enhancing the overall event experience through practical community-focused support.

According to Maxim, such initiatives demonstrate how businesses can contribute meaningfully beyond financial sponsorship by improving accessibility, encouraging participation and strengthening partnerships with community organisations.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting programmes that generate positive social impact, expressing hope that continued collaboration with local organisations will help create a society where individuals of all abilities can participate confidently and equally in everyday life.
