KUCHING: SMK Santubong received four Smart TVs from Maybank Sarawak to support digital learning and enhance teaching and learning at the school.
The contribution was made in conjunction with Maybank Group’s 14th Global Corporate Responsibility (CR) Day 2026 and Cahaya Kasih Challenge 2026-2027 programme held at the school today.
Santubong Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, said the initiative was in line with the changing needs of education, particularly as technology continued to play a greater role in learning.
She said such support was especially important for schools located away from urban centres, where students could benefit from greater access to digital learning facilities.
“This event is to ensure that students are able to gain the knowledge they need through education. Especially for schools far from the city, they really need education like this,” she said.
Nancy emphasised that education remained a key priority as it could open pathways to employment, improve incomes, and help families build better lives.
“Do not let your place of residence or family backgrounds become a barrier. I believe that with knowledge and continuous effort, all of you can achieve the aspirations you dream of,” she said.
Nancy said the collaboration between Maybank and the Santubong parliamentary constituency was not new, with the bank having previously supported Pusat Aktiviti Kanak-Kanak (PAKK) Bandar Baru Samariang in 2024 and 2025.
Maybank Sarawak’s Regional Director, Abang Jamili Abang Julai, said the initiative reflected the bank’s role in contributing to the community through education and knowledge-sharing.
“This is our opportunity in the banking sector to contribute to the children in school. We hope to share our knowledge in financial literacy, business planning and digital technology to help the community,” he said.
More than 60 Maybank employees from its regional office, branches and centres in Sarawak took part in the programme, which also featured sharing sessions on financial literacy and scam awareness.
The initiative, guided by the theme ‘Impacting Society Positively: Enabling Well-being For All’, focuses on education, community empowerment and environmental sustainability.
