KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said open communication between all departments and divisions is essential in strengthening teamwork and improving problem-solving efficiency.
Good communication forms the foundation of unity within the council and ensures that all members move in the same direction towards delivering better services to the community, he said.
“Effective communication is the key to connecting our big family and driving us forward with a shared goal of unity in serving the people of Kuching South with integrity and dedication,” he said.
He was speaking during the MBKS Deepavali Celebration 2025 held at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Lobby today.
In the same context, Wee noted that Deepavali, also known as the Festival of Lights, carries a profound message that light always triumphs over darkness and goodness prevails over negativity and fear.
“When every small light comes together, even the darkest space can be illuminated. Likewise, when every officer and staff member work hand in hand, MBKS can create something truly bright for this city.
“Let us continue to bring light to others through kindness, cooperation, and understanding. Together, we will keep shining in Kuching South,” he said.
He also expressed pride that such festive celebrations are not merely occasions to be enjoyed but serve as a platform to strengthen relationships.
“Whether it’s Chinese New Year, Hari Raya, Gawai, Christmas, or Deepavali, it has become an MBKS tradition to celebrate them as an effort to reinforce harmony and mutual respect among staff,” he said.
Wee also took the opportunity to thank all councillors for their leadership and support, as well as every MBKS staff member from all departments for their commitment and hard work in maintaining Kuching South as a clean, green, safe, and friendly city.
“Each one of you plays an important role. Whether you work on the ground or in the office, your efforts make a difference every single day,” he added.
