KUCHING: A local couple’s urgent business licence renewal was successfully resolved through swift intervention by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng, and Councillor Eric Tay Tze Kok.

The couple, facing technical difficulties in renewing their business licence, approached the duo during a ‘turun padang’ session.

With the clock ticking, their concerns were met with immediate attention.

“I acted without delay.

“We helped compile the necessary documents and arranged a meeting with the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) to clarify procedures and ensure everything was in order,” Tay said in a statement yesterday (Aug 1).

Bomba responded efficiently.

On July 29, officers visited the premises for a fire safety inspection, which the business passed successfully.

By August 1, the couple had completed payment and received their renewed licence at MBKS.

Tay expressed gratitude to both Bomba and MBKS staff for their cooperation.

“As a city councillor, I am simply fulfilling my duty. What truly matters is solving real problems for the people,” he said.

This case not only brought relief to the business owners but also demonstrated how effective collaboration between local leaders and authorities can deliver tangible solutions to the community.
