KUCHING:The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) gathered communities across 15 villages under one roof recently as part of Program Iftar Kasih Ramadan MBKS 2026

The programme, which was officiated by MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng at MBKS community hall last night, reaffirms the council’s pledge to leave no resident behind during the holy month.

Themed ‘Kasih Disulam, Komuniti Diperkasa’, the programme saw 198 recipients receive RM150 each in Ramadan assistance, with five children of MBKS staff also included in the initiative.

Beyond individual aid, 20 mosques and surau were each presented with RM700, two sets of Tafsir Al-Quran, and a set of sejadah to bolster religious activities throughout the month.

The event, however, extended well beyond the distribution of aid. Councillors and MBKS staff used the occasion as a platform to engage directly with residents by listening to their concerns and gaining a deeper understanding of community needs on the ground.

Wee extended his gratitude to the programme’s sponsors, whose corporate social responsibility contributions made the initiative possible.

Among those recognised were CCK, PETROS, Tabung Baitulmal, Musyati, Sarawak Metro, Cahaya Mata, BODCO, Ibraco, and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB).

He also took the opportunity to issue a timely reminder to residents to remain vigilant during the festive season, urging the public to prioritise fire safety at home and stay alert against theft, particularly when leaving their properties unoccupied.

Program Iftar Kasih Ramadan MBKS 2026 stands as a testament to the council’s enduring commitment to community welfare; one built on outreach, partnership, and a shared vision of a caring and united Kuching South.
