KUCHING: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) organised a Gawai Dayak celebration for its employees at the MBKS lobby on Friday.

According to a statement, the event was attended by mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng and acting city secretary Zainab Marzali.

Wee said that this was the council’s first celebration for their staff members since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are fortunate to have staff members from diverse backgrounds and religions coming together to celebrate festive occasions in peace and harmony. This celebration aims to bring our staff closer, allowing them to spend quality time together and share the joyful spirit of the festive season,” he said.

“These individuals are the backbone of the council. By organising this program, we demonstrate our appreciation for their hard work and unwavering support,” he added.

In addition to savouring a variety of delicious food, MBKS staff also participated in contests for the best-dressed individuals and best-decorated stalls during the Gawai Dayak gathering.
