KUCHING: Majlis Bandaraya Kuching S e lat a n (MBKS) held Deepavali Bersama Komuniti 2017 at the lobby of its building at Jalan Padungan here yesterday. Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian was the guestof- honour.
Speaking at the function, Dr Sim said the people of Kuching ought to be proud of their city. He also urged the council to implement more peopleoriented projects. He congratulated the mayor, councilors and officers for their dedication and commitment in making Kuching a clean and caring city.
“ Ev enthou gh the r e are not many Indians in Kuching we still acknowledge their contributions in making Kuching a wonderful place to live in,” he said, adding that the Indian community here is never and will never be sidelined eventhough their number is relatively small.
Also present were MBKS Mayor Dato James Chan Khay Syn, hi s deput y Tuan Haji Hilmy Othman, Temengong Datuk Tan Joo Phoi and Kapitan Lucy Linggam.
