KUCHING: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has stepped up to support families affected by a recent fire in Kampung Tabuan Haji Drahman (Tabuan Foochow), reinforcing its commitment to community welfare under the Project Caring Society initiative.
Led by Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, MBKS councillors provided immediate relief, with a particular focus on ensuring that children impacted by the disaster receive the necessary assistance to continue their education without disruption.
As part of this effort, 10 children from affected families were taken on a shopping trip to purchase school uniforms, shoes, socks, school bags, and essential school accessories.
“Education should never be compromised due to unforeseen hardships, and MBKS is committed to providing assistance where needed,” said Wee, noting that the initiative goes beyond financial aid by ensuring children can return to school with dignity and confidence.
He added that this outreach reflects MBKS’ continuous efforts to foster a caring and inclusive society, ensuring that vulnerable communities receive the support they need.
MBKS will continue working closely with local communities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and relevant agencies to assist needy families further, aligning with its vision of building a resilient and compassionate city.
