KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) is stepping up cooperation with the police to curb rising scams, money-laundering activities and scam advertisements in the city.
Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said close collaboration with the police is crucial as commercial crime continues to evolve.
“Protecting our community from scams and fraudulent activities requires strong cooperation.
“We appreciate the proactive efforts of the Police Department and look forward to working closely together on campaigns that enhance public awareness and safety,” he said.
Wee, his deputy Datuk Zaiedi Suhaili and senior MBKS officers received a police delegation led by Supt. Mohd Syafiq Jinuin Abdullah during a courtesy visit on Tuesday (Dec 2).
The meeting focused on analysing current scam trends, tightening enforcement strategies and expanding public education to prevent residents from falling victim to fraud.
Both sides are committed to strengthening communication, coordination and community outreach for the safety and wellbeing of Kuching South residents.
