KUCHING: The MBKS Caring Community Programme is a poignant reminder of the season’s true spirit of compassion, introspection and unity.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said the essence of sharing joy and blessings with those in need reinforces the values of care and togetherness that define the festive season.
“As we gather here today, let us embrace the true spirit of Chinese New Year is a time not only for festivities but also for sharing our blessings with others,” he said at a food aid distribution under the programme held at the KMC basketball court here today (Jan 20).
“This season reminds us of the importance of caring for one another,” he said.
The programme highlighted significant contributions from CCK Consolidated Holdings Berhad, which donated frozen chicken, and Everise, which provided essential food aid to 453 KMC Flat residents.
Wee praised these corporate social responsibility (CSR) acts, commending their impact on strengthening community bonds.
“Your generous actions embody the highest values of service.
“Together, you have brought joy to many, showing that compassion can transform lives,” he said.
He added that the initiative reinforces the council’s dedication to fostering a compassionate and inclusive community in Kuching South, especially residents of the KMC Flats.
“Through the MBKS Caring Community Programme, we aim to spread joy and alleviate some of the burdens our community members face.
“Today’s initiative reaffirms our commitment to building a caring and inclusive community here in Kuching South
“To the residents of KMC Flats, we hope these contributions bring warmth and happiness to your hearts and homes during this festive season.
“Let us continue to foster the spirit of togetherness and support one another as we step into the new year with renewed hope and determination,” he said.
