KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) reaffirmed its dedication to collaborating with local schools and community groups to foster a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment for children across Kuching South.

MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng alongside MBKS councillors, Eric Tay and Liew Leong Yee, visited SK Tabuan Jaya Preschool to hand over two air conditioners donated by Persatuan Kebajikan Penyayang Sehati Sejiwa Kuching.

The donation aims to reduce classroom heat and provide a cooler, more comfortable atmosphere for preschoolers, who often endure high indoor temperatures during the day.

Wee said the children deserve to learn in a comfortable and conducive setting, adding that the new air conditioners will allow students to focus better and enjoy their lessons.

The contribution also aligns with MBKS’ ongoing commitment under the Child-Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI), which prioritises the development, safety and well-being of children in urban areas.

During the visit, the school highlighted the need for a covered shed outside the compound to shelter students waiting to be picked up or dropped off.

Wee acknowledged the request and assured that MBKS would look into ways to support the school in realising this additional facility.
