MIRI: The WOW SmartCut Gaya N75 Senadin programme’s Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) achievement has highlighted the role of community and private-sector collaboration in supporting the special needs community.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin said the participation of 1,370 individuals and 40 hairstylists showed how different parties could come together to carry out a large-scale initiative that benefitted the community.
“This achievement does not belong to any one individual, but is the result of the contributions of all parties involved, particularly the 40 partners who contributed their time, energy and commitment to making the programme a success,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the Miri Special Needs Fest 2026 at a mall, here, on Sunday.
Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, said the programme demonstrated how community and private-sector participation could be combined to support initiatives that benefitted society.
He said the 40 participating hairstylists contributed their expertise while also providing free services to the special needs community.
“What is more meaningful is that this achievement is not merely about setting a record. It shows that when we work together, we can create something that benefits society,” he said.
He added that every party had their own role and capacity to contribute to the community, regardless of the size of the organisation or background.
Lee hoped the achievement would encourage more community-based collaborative programmes in the future.
“I hope the spirit shown today will continue. This record can be an achievement, but more importantly, it is the spirit of cooperation and effort to help the community that has emerged from this programme,” he said.
