CYBERJAYA: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has launched scholarships aimed at grooming future professionals in the communications and multimedia (C&M) sector.
The initiative introduces two new programmes, the MCMC LEGASI Scholarship and the MCMC CARE Scholarship, which are designed to support promising young Malaysians in developing critical skills in areas such as telecommunications, regulatory policy, cybersecurity, media, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
According to MCMC, both scholarships provide full financial support, including tuition and living expenses, and are complemented by structured industry exposure to prepare students for careers in the fast-evolving communications sector.
The MCMC LEGASI (Leaders of the Next-Generation Scholarship) is a merit-based award for outstanding undergraduate students pursuing relevant degrees at top universities in Malaysia or abroad.
Beyond full sponsorship, the programme guarantees industrial training placements and employment at MCMC upon graduation.
Recipients will also be exposed to real-world work in digital infrastructure, regulatory development, network security, and policy innovation, with additional certifications and training to strengthen their leadership readiness.
Meanwhile, the MCMC CARE Scholarship targets high-potential students from underprivileged backgrounds who wish to pursue undergraduate studies at local public universities.
This needs-based scholarship offers full financial coverage and hands-on training opportunities at MCMC.
The MCMC’s scholarship programme reflects its commitment to shaping a digitally resilient Malaysia.
Through this, they aim to empower youth with the expertise, exposure, and opportunities to lead and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s communications and multimedia industry.
Applications for both scholarships are open from June 24 to July 24, 2025.
Interested candidates are encouraged to apply via the official MCMC website at https://mcmc.gov.my/academy/en/scholarships-1.
Successful candidates will be notified in August.
