KUALA LUMPUR: Five measures will be introduced by the government to assist borrowers from the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) to repay their loans beginning next year, including reducing loan repayment amounts for students from B40 households who obtain first-class honours.

Finance Minister, Lim Guan Eng when tabling Budget 2019 at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday said another move was to introduce scheduled salary deductions of between two and 15 percent of borrowers’ monthly income towards repayment of the loan.

He said, however, this measure only applied to those earning more than RM1,000 a month.– Bernama
