SIBU: A mechanic is believed to have committed suicide after telling a friend that he was going to a faraway place and some days later found hanging lifeless at the end of a rope.
Sibu OCPD ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the deceased person, Ngu Ung Hock, 39, was found hanged inside his home in Nanga Assan near here at 4.20pm Saturday.
According to Stanley, the deceased had on June 5, told a friend that he would be going somewhere and would not be returning home.
“The friend thought that he would be going to Bintulu as he once worked as a mechanic there. Little did he realise Ngu would commit suicide,” he added.
The deceased was staying with his girlfriend and her child.
“On the first day of Raya, they had a misunderstanding and he told the woman to move out,” Stanley said.
Stanley further said the woman came looking for Ngu on June 8 but her knock on the door went unanswered.
“When she looked through the window panes, she saw him hanging by the neck,” he said, adding initial police investigation revealed there was no foul play involved.
