BAU: A mechanic was arrested after narcotics police found suspected methamphetamine in his possession during a raid on a workshop yesterday (Jul 7).
The operation was conducted at around 10.20am in Kampung Grogo by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID), assisted by personnel from district police headquarters (IPD).
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the team seized two medium-sized plastic packets containing 0.57g of suspected methamphetamine, estimated to be worth RM60.
Both the drugs and the 39-year-old suspect were taken to the police station for further actions.
The man, who has no prior record and tested positive for drugs, is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession and drug consumption.
In another development, five other men, aged between 24 and 39, were arrested under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act after their preliminary urine screening returned positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspects admitted to consuming methamphetamine a day before they were detained.
Background checks also found that each of them have prior record for drug consumption.
