KUCHING: The Medan Niaga Satok 2025 Carnival is projected to welcome over 65,000 visitors while aiming for total sales of RM1.3 million across three days.

Deputy Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Minister, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail, said the carnival aims to promote agri-food products and position Medan Niaga Satok as a main destination for fresh produce and primary agriculture-based industries.

“Held for the second time after its inaugural edition three years ago, a total of 103 entrepreneur lots participated across various sales segments, including fresh produce, trending foods, and local entrepreneur products.

“Entrepreneurs from Penang also took part. However, their products sold out on the first day, while the second and third days focused on tourism promotion,” he said.

He said this when met with reporters after officiating the Medan Niaga Satok 2025 Carnival at Medan Niaga Satok here today.

Dr Abdul Rahman added that visitors had the chance to enjoy special offers such as the MADANI Combo, providing a RM5 price discount per purchase, as well as sales of fresh products like eggs, chicken, meat, and fish with discounts ranging from 5 per cent to 30 per cent.

“Various activities were also held, including Happy Hour Egg Sales, Fresh Chicken Sales, and Fresh Fish Sales, giving visitors the opportunity to buy quality products at affordable prices,” he added.

He highlighted the carnival’s ‘wow’ factor, which included various agriculture-based attractions, such as Agromas Product Exhibitions and Demonstrations, where visitors could see firsthand the agricultural produce and agri-food products produced by local entrepreneurs.

“The Agro Cooking Challenge programme involved cooking competitions using Agromas-based products.

“I hope that residents in and around Kuching and Samarahan will take this opportunity during the three days to enjoy affordable prices on products such as eggs, chicken, and more,” he said.

For the record, this year, the carnival also saw official participation from the Penang State Government under the Jelajah Pulau Pinang @ Sarawak programme, bringing 15 entrepreneurs to Kuching.

Penang’s participation showcased its unique gastronomy, including ‘char kuey teow’, Penang laksa, ‘pasembur’, and other SME products, while promoting economic collaboration between Sarawak and Penang.

Looking ahead, Penang Bumiputera Development Council Chairman, Tan Sri Khalid Ramli, expressed hope to return with even more offerings in future editions.

FAMA welcomed the initiative, saying it opens new market opportunities, strengthens marketing networks, and enhances inter-state economic integration.
