DALAT: The Public Works Department (PWD), the contractor, consultants, project licensee and all others involved in constructing the Kampung Medong, Lebrasau/Kampung Klid Road here will meet at the end of this month to discuss matters pertaining to the completion of the 11.67-kilometre-long road.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the meeting was very vital to iron out issues now affecting its completion.

He said the RM74-million road project was now 70 days behind schedule, and this was a cause for concern.

Uggah, who is Infrastructure and Port Development Minister, told the media this after visiting its construction side here today.

The project is 48.56 per cent completed against its schedule of 55.62 per cent.

Uggah informed that besides the road, it also includes three bridges over Sungai Lebrasau, Sungai Peluan and Sungai Klid.

He added that this project was scheduled for completion by end of January next year.

“That is why we always ‘turun padang’ (going on the ground) checking on project implementation progress.

“We want to ensure all projects approved for implementation are implemented properly and completed as scheduled.

“Through these visits too we can find out if any contractor faced any problem. Then together with the Public Works Department (PWD), we will solve them,” he added.

Uggah also said the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg too had recently voiced out that it is most vital that the PWD and other agencies play their respective roles in the timely completion of all development projects.

Mukah Member of Parliament, Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib who was present, thanked Uggah for taking the time to monitor the progress of project implementations in her constituency.
